If you have a family, just consider what you can do in and around this village in summer. Just 15 minutes walk from the Chalet there is a safe beach with lifeguards, set around a swimming lake with a waterslide and beach volleyball court. For the under 5’s, there are bouncy castles, trampolines, a traditional merry-go-round, mini-train rides, swings, slides and kiddies pool. From 5 years old you can go downhill go-karting and scooting, grass-skiing, pony-riding, play tennis and also archery, or have a go on the ‘elastic fly’ (sort of bungee-jumping from the ground). For over 8’s, next to the lake is the new Adventure Parc with 4 levels of ‘assault course’ climbing on wires and rope-ladders through the tree tops - with safety lines and instructors -, and for teenagers and older, the downhill mountain-biking here is world standard (you take your bike up on the ski lifts), the 18 hole golf course is literally just up the road, and every day you’ll see up to a dozen or so people either doing a course or a trial flight with an instructor on paragliders flying over the village. If all this sounds a bit too strenuous just sit outside the many restuarants and cafes and watch it all from down in the village or take one of the gondola rides up the mountain and watch from above. For days out, many people take day trips to Annecy which is beautiful or to Evian and Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) less than 30 minutes away.

Our chalet stands well back from the main-road about 2 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk from and above the town centre. It has two double/twin bedrooms, a further twin on the mezzanine area, a bedroom with 4 bunks for the children, 2 bath/shower rooms, sep WC, large kitchen and open plan living room, balcony, garden, garage and parking.

How To Get There

By Road from the UK

Calais to Les Gets is 570 miles and can be travelled all by motorway except the last 25 miles. The autoroute tolls cost approximately £35 (50 Euros) each way per vehicle and with diesel around £3.50 per gallon in France, fuel costs will be from £50 each way per vehicle. Thus for a group of ten people travelling in 2 cars, the return trip cost can be as low as £35 per person.

A recommended route is Calais-A26-Reims-(A4)-A26-Troyes-A5-A31-Dijon-A39-(via Dole)-Bourg en Bresse-A40-(towards Chamonix) but get off motorway at Cluses, head for Taninges and then Les Gets.

If you live in the western half of England and Wales, you might consider a relaxing overnight ferry crossing from Portsmouth to Le Havre. Sleeping cabins cost about £30 to £40 extra for 2 to 4 berths. From Le Havre the distance is less, about 490 miles to Les Gets and costs about £30 each way for the motorway tolls. A recommended route would be Le Havre-N15-A131(use Pont de Tancarville)-A13-Peripherique-A6 (past Nemours, Auxerre, Beaune) then -Macon-A40-D902 to Les Gets
